At the State Democracy Project, we believe that a thriving democracy depends on regular people having the capacity to create community, to educate themselves on the public policies that shape their lives,  and to develop leaders who can represent and advocate for them in the halls of power.

The State Democracy Project focuses on incubating promising progressive initiatives so that these organizers can focus on what they do best —organizing.

We offer fiscal sponsorship to projects that align with SDP’s statement of purpose: “to improve American democracy by encouraging increased citizen participation [and]...more responsive government institutions at the local, state and federal levels.”
